Our Farm Family

Yandry

In early 2020, we began hiring young people from San Dimas, a nearby village, to work with us on our growing farm.

We offer our employees flexible hours to accommodate for school and family responsibilities, a safe chemical-free working environment, and a good wage well above the “fair trade” standard.

In an area where casual day labor is the norm, Yandry (19) and his cousin Maribel (24), have been working with us steadily for over two years. Yandry's younger sister Mayerly (18) works part-time while she studies to be a veterinarian. Yandry and Mayerly both recently graduated high school, the first members of their family to do so.

Our Farm Apprentices

Since our beginnings in 2016, we have hosted scores of apprentices and workshop participants here at the farm in Ecuador.

We teach both the philosophy and hands-on techniques of natural and sustainable building methods, organic cacao cultivation, and agroforestry, all in the setting of the cloud forest we are regenerating.

Our farm apprenticeship program is an opportunity to immerse fully into a "living with the land" experience while learning valuable skills.

Our Friends in Regeneration

A workshop at Mashpi Artisanal Chocolate

We continually find inspiration and knowledge in the work of our friends at Mashpi Artisanal Chocolate, a regenerative cacao agroforestry farm and source of award-winning chocolate, the Chontaloma Reserve, Yakunina Reserve, and Pambiliño Forest School in the nearby Mashpi community.

We co-facilitate programs with our Mashpi colleagues such as natural building (bioconstruccion) workshops and participate in mingas, or community projects. Visiting the Mashpi Reserve is always a highlight experience for our visitors and workshop participants.

Our Neighbors from Abroad

Every day at Sueño de Vida we take direct action to show how people can repair damaged ecosystems and can cultivate abundance.

Inspired by our steady progress, three new members have joined the Sueño de Vida community from abroad since 2018. All of our new community members have actively invested in land regeneration on over 30 acres by planting thousands of trees and plants on formerly deforested pasture.
